BRUSSELS: The heads of French automaker Renault and Germany's Daimler AG each said on Wednesday they expected to see two billion euros added to the bottom line over the first five years of their partnership.
"The synergies with Daimler have a net present value of at least two billion euros (2.67 billion dollars) for the alliance in both cost and revenue opportunities over the next five years," Carlos Ghosn, chairman of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, told a press conference.
The Renault-Nissan alliance and Daimler announced a new partnership to exchange capital and technology with particular emphasis on smaller, electric cars as the industry looks to carve out a post-economic slump resurgence.
"By combining our know-how, we will set new standards in fuel consumption and CO2 emission," Zetsche also said.

Competition creates problems
We are labouring under the misapprehension that competition solves problems. It does not, competition creates problems. Cooperation is what we have to learn. That is what we need to make progress.
